Procedures We Offer
Dental implants are made to look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. They help preserve your facial structure, preventing bone deterioration and other issues. Surgically placed into your jawbone, dental implants involve tiny titanium posts that bond with your bone to create a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Because they require bone support, not everyone is a viable candidate for implants.
The average mouth is made to hold only 28 teeth. However, most adults have 32 teeth once their wisdom teeth (third molars) come in by the age of 18. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause many problems, including overcrowding and alignment issues, bacterial infections, cavities, swelling, pain, and even illness in some cases. We’d be happy to provide an oral examination to help you determine if a wisdom tooth extraction is in order. Patients are generally first evaluated in their mid-teens, though your wisdom teeth may come in earlier or later than this.
Some patients may require a bone grafting procedure, which helps them grow bone where needed before we can recommend dental implants. The three types of bone grafting procedures we offer include sinus lifts, ridge augmentation, and nerve repositioning. A sinus lift elevates your sinus membrane, while ridge augmentation is required when your dental ridge has been reabsorbed. Nerve repositioning can help make room for dental implants in your lower jaw.
There are many signs indicating oral cancer, including reddish or whitish patches in your mouth, lumps, chronic sore throat or hoarseness, difficulty chewing or swallowing, or a sore that fails to heal and bleeds easily. Pain isn’t always present, so regular oral cancer screenings are recommended to detect oral cancer early enough so that you may seek treatment.
If you’ve experienced a facial trauma resulting in knocked-out teeth, facial or intraoral lacerations, a fractured jaw, or fractured facial bones, our surgeons can help. Our specialists are well-versed in emergency care, acute treatment, long-term reconstruction, and rehabilitation to aid in your recovery.
TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders are related to your jaw joint. If you’ve noticed a “clicking” sound, frequent headaches and neck aches, or sore, stiff jaw muscles, you may require TMJ treatment. TMJ disorders are usually linked to clenching and grinding your teeth, injuries, and certain diseases.
If your jaws don’t meet correctly or your teeth don’t seem to fit with your jaws, you may require orthognathic surgery to straighten your teeth and/or correct a misaligned jaw. Orthognathic surgery can help you improve your facial appearance and the functionality of your bite.
